BANG FOR THE BUCK, January 11, 2012 By KFeld "ballhog" (Seattle,Wa.) - See all my reviews This review is from: Haier 42-Inch LED HDTV (LE42B1380) (Electronics) Frist off this is a LED not a LCD. Brought this for my bedroom for $400 by far a super deal for LED 42" but not knowing much about the manufacturer I was apprehensive, but for the bedroom I figured what the heck. Haier is a lesser known brand yet still considered a brand name manufacturing various other products as well. The TV was slimmer than my 46 in Samsung (LCD) and the picture was better in fact I watch it more than the Samsung. The only disappointment was the 60HZ versus 120hz or higher but still for me it's wasn't a deal breaker. The speakers sound is weak so I bought a Sony HTCT550W soundbar with wireless sub at a great price and man I'm very pleased with the whole thing. The only suggestion I would make is to buy a sound system & used all HDMI cable it's a must to get the most out of your home theater.

Quality problem, service not good., February 14, 2012 By This review is from: Haier 42-Inch LED HDTV (LE42B1380) (Electronics) I got this TV last December. I use it only two monthes. The plastic cup (which connects the TV to the stand) broken. The TV fell on floor. I took the broken cup out, found a couple cracks on it. Their design has problem, they make a too weak cup for a 42 inch TV and a swivel stand. Call the manufacturer, they refuse to fix it.

Has several issues.
The Good Stuff . . . . .
PRICE !!! for a 42" 1080p LED you cannot beat it.
Picture is good. Mine looked fine right out of the box.
The bad stuff . . . . .
Sound quality is very bad. Speakers must be tiny.
The sound adjustment on the TV does nothing.
Add a cheap sound bar or hook up a surround system and it sounds great.
Also the base is very flimsy. Go with a wall mount.
It's not a high end Samsung so don't expect it to be perfect.
